EXPERIENCE

GIS Analyst | Research & Analysis Division
Tahoe Regional Planning Agency | Stateline, NV

2016 – Present

Manage all aspects of the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment using a federated Server, Portal, and Data Store powered by ArcSDE with SQL Server. Leverage ESRI technology to build digital mapping applications and data services leading the agency into modern and efficient data management practices and web mapping technologies.

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Coordinated the first annual Tahoe GIS User Group meeting, bringing together GIS professionals from across the region to share ideas and foster collaboration.

    • Scripted the parcel update process using Python, resulting in a reliable and repeatable way to quickly update a universal parcel dataset for Tahoe

    • Created a web application for planners to review permit constraints. The app utilizes custom geoprocessing tools to intersect project boundaries with nearby features of interest.

    • Developed a web application used by the Lake Tahoe West Forest Health Restoration partnership to explore project data.

    • Created a web application that allows planners to record verified land capability and automatically calculates impervious coverage allowed using a custom geoprocessing service.

    • Recently drafted a request for funding proposal to solicit a contractors services in processing raw LiDAR data into vegetation units, impervious surface features, and to hydro-enforce the digital-elevation model.

    • Evaluated mobile hardware and external GPS receivers used with data collection apps, purchased android based tablets, developed data collection workflows with ESRI’s Survey 123 and Collector apps; increasing the efficiency of field data collection for multiple departments.

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Data (strategy, collection, QA/QC, analysis, processing, management, standardization)

    • Database (architecture, design, modeling)

    • User experience/interface (UX/UI) design

    • Web and mobile mapping application development

    • Project management

    • Technical documentation and support

GIS Specialist | El Dorado National Forest
United States Forest Service | Placerville, CA

2014 – 2016

Maintained and updated the Forest’s enterprise geodatabase. Utilized ESRI technology to map and analyze resource conditions in support of environmental review process. Provided data management and analysis support to the engineering, timber management, fire, and ecology departments. Deployed on field assignments to provide GIS support to active wildland fire incidents and burned area emergency rehabilitation projects.

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Managed the GIS for the King Fire Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation team; rapidly deploying mobile data collection applications, mapping critical infrastructure (storm sewer and forest roads) with the highest risk of landslide potential based on soil burn condition within the up-slope contributing area.

    • Provided GIS support to multiple large landscape collaborative forest health restoration partnerships.

IT Technician | Sierra at Tahoe
Ski Resort | Twin Bridges, CA

Winter 2013

Acted as the jack-of-all-trades IT tech. Fixed desktop issues, managed user privileges with Windows active directory, mapped physical hardware, and re-wired multiple buildings.

Biological Science Technician - GIS Focus | Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
United States Forest Service | Meyers, CA

2011 – 2014

Provided GIS technical support to multiple forest projects, leading analysis and reporting efforts, establishing data collection protocols, and training all staff levels on GIS best practices.

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Conducted formal GIS training for Forest Service staff.

    • Surveyed, mapped, and analyzed native Western-pearlshell mussel locations as part of the Upper Truckee River Restoration Project environmental review process.

    • Generated LiDAR derivatives to create habitat suitability models.

GIS / Black Bear / Biological Science Technician | Sequoia & Kings Canyon
National Park Service | Three Rivers, CA

2008 – 2011

Updated the Park’s GIS data. Performed fieldwork tracking black bears wearing GPS enabled collars and then analyzed the location data. Performed backcountry fieldwork to support restoration efforts for the Sierra Nevada Yellow-legged frogs.

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Analyzed female black bear foraging habits using kernel density estimations to represent home ranges and core areas, correlating the data with vegetation.

    • Updated the park’s wilderness boundary feature class and metadata using coordinate-geometry (COGO) tools, and applied topology rules to identify data inconsistencies.

    • Coordinated backcountry project logistics while conducting remote field work.

    • Created reference maps for crew navigation and setup GPS enabled field data capture.

    • Worked to reduce human-bear conflict in the park by educating park visitors and to restore habitat for the endangered Sierra Nevada Yellow-legged frogs.

GIS Specialist | Department of Community Development
City of New Berlin | New Berlin, WI

2007 – 2010

Updated and maintained the City’s enterprise geodatabase, coordinated data collection efforts of multiple departments, mapped assets of the sanitary sewer and stormwater systems, digitized features off of as-built drawings, translated feature geometries from AutoCAD files to GIS

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Coordinated with the Public Works department to create the first ever stormwater and sanitary sewer GIS data; managed the collection of asset GPS locations, generated a map series used by field crews, and attributed the features.

    • Created reference, zoning, and thematic maps for city council meetings.

    • Updated zoning, easement, and parcel features using coordinate-geometry tools.

Geospatial Data Librarian | American Geographical Society Library
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee | Milwaukee, WI

2005 – 2007

Consulted with library patrons to identify and disseminate data from the library’s geospatial data collection. Cataloged new library holdings, georeferenced aerial photos, heads-up digitized features, and projected/transformed geospatial data like a boss.

  • Accomplishments include:

    • Wore the white gloves to scan Charles Lindbergh's original flight charts.

    • Georeferenced a set of aerial images spanning the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

    • Created a feature class of historic parcels within Milwaukee using COGO tools to delineate from legal descriptions.
